Who we are
Financial Inclusion FYI (financialinclusion.fyi) is an online publication covering microfinance, fintech, and financial inclusion. The site is operated by Symba Global, Willemsplantsoen 9, 3511 LB Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Questions about this policy can be directed to info@symbaglobal.com.
What data we collect
This site does not use cookies or client-side tracking scripts. We do not collect any information you do not actively provide.
Like all websites, our hosting infrastructure (Amazon CloudFront) automatically records standard server access logs for every request. Each log entry contains:
- Your IP address
- The page or file requested
- The date and time of the request
- Your browser type and operating system (user agent string)
- The referring URL, if your browser provides one
- HTTP status code and bytes transferred
IP addresses are personal data under the GDPR. They are pseudonymous identifiers: they do not directly identify you by name, but may do so in combination with other data held by a third party such as an internet service provider.
How we use the data
We use server log data to:
- Understand which articles and topics attract the most readers.
- Identify traffic sources and referrers.
- Detect and diagnose technical errors.
- Measure whether readers of this blog subsequently visit symbaglobal.com, using IP-address matching across both sites' server logs. This helps us understand the effectiveness of our content in reaching our target audience.
We do not attempt to re-identify individuals from log data, and we do not share log data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Legal basis
We process server log data on the basis of our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding our audience, improving our content, and maintaining the security and operation of this website. We have assessed that this processing does not override your fundamental rights and freedoms, given that: no cookies are used, data is not shared with advertisers, log files are automatically deleted after 12 months, and we do not attempt to re-identify individuals.
Data retention
Server access logs are automatically deleted after 12 months.
Data transfers
Server logs are stored on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in the United States. AWS participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and provides appropriate safeguards under Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Request access to personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of that data.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the supervisory authority in your country of residence.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@symbaglobal.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
